Freeware – Milviz JU-87 Stuka

Today, we are jumping out from the commercial aircraft by introducing this military aircraft to you – Milviz JU-87 Stuka.

Milviz JU-87 was a payware (US$39.95) and now Milviz decided to release it as a freeware to the simmers.

About JU-87 Stuka

The Stuka name derived from “Sturzkampfflugzeug”, the generic German word for dive-bomber. So famous was the Junkers Ju 87 that the term Stuka came to be identified with it in Western eyes.

The aircraft was easily recognisable by its inverted gull wings, fixed spatted undercarriage and its infamous Jericho-Trompete (“Jericho Trumpet”) wailing siren, becoming the propaganda symbol of German air power and the blitzkrieg victories of 1939–1942.

Designed by Hermann Pohlmann, the Stuka first flew in 1935 and made its combat debut in 1936 as part of the Luftwaffe’s Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War. Although sturdy, accurate, and very effective against ground targets, the Ju 87 was vulnerable to modern fighter aircraft, like many other dive bombers of the war.

By the end of the conflict, the Stuka had been largely replaced by ground-attack versions of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, but was still in use until the last days of the war. An estimated 6,500 Ju 87s of all versions were built between 1936 and August 1944.

About this Add-On

Developed by Milviz, this add-on is supporting FSX, FSX:Steam, P3D v2 and v3.

Two versions of the Ju 87 are included in this package: The D.5, a typical long wing Stuka dive bomber capable of carrying four 100kg bombs and one 500Kg bomb, and the anti-tank G.2, equipped with two 37 mm (1.46 in) Flak 18 cannons mounted on under-wing gun pods, each loaded with two six-round magazines of armour-piercing tungsten carbide-cored ammunition. (It’s worthwhile to note that the cannon-equipped Ju 87 ‘G’ proved spectacularly successful in the hands of Stuka aces such as Hans Rudel, and later influenced the design of the A-10 Thunderbolt II!)

This add-on provides realistic systems and instrumentation on both versions. It is strongly suggested that you peruse the manual to become familiar with the proper methods for operating this aircraft!

Many other details are also featured in this package, including operable dive brakes, releasable ordnance and weapons that fire. (Please note: the included weapons will not damage or destroy scenery, or AI objects.)

Completed with the rigorous testing and refinement, high-definition textures inside and out, high quality soundset and professionally coded flight dynamics, this should be of interest to every enthusiast of vintage or WWII aircraft!
